As of May 22, 2009, Wafa Kanan and I came to an agreement to publish Through My Eyes Verse 8.8.08 through her publishing company Unique Imaging Inc.
I met Wafa Kanan in July 2008, at a Muscular Dystrophy Association event. Wafa was talking to my mom when she asked what I liked to do. My mom told her I was into sports and writing. Wafa instantly came over to me and was asking about my writing. At the time, I was working on my autobiography, she was very interested in it. When it got time to go, she gave me her card and said call me when you have your book done. In October, I had gotten sick, and wrote the poetry book. In November, I called Wafa and told her I had a book for her. We had a meeting right away, and I showed her part of my autobiography, and the poetry book. It was a great meeting. I came back a couple of months later with the pictures and poems all put together. With the help of her team at Unique Image, the book has been completed. Throughout the whole process, Wafa and everyone at Unique Image taught me all the ins and outs of the business. On July 23, 2009, We celebrated with the first edition being released for Myotubular Myopathy / Central Nuculei Myopathy Family Conference. 1st Edition was sold immediately and continues to sell well with great reviews. We had copies sold in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and all across the United States. There is a good amount of books pre-ordered for the release which will be soon.
To Wafa, Unique Image, and the ALO Foundation, thank you for all the support and lets take it to the top.

Through My Eyes Verse 8.8.08 is a book of poems of the ups and downs, opinions and future thoughts of the story of my life from womb to the tomb.
Verse 8.8.08 symbolizes my twenty-first birthday. There are twenty-one poems, and each poem has a picture.
Why I wrote the book: The reasoning behind writing the book is that I feel my people need a voice. I am not just talking about people with disabilities. I am talking about everybody that wants to better themselves, accomplish their goals, and to capture their dreams.

I have been through many near death experiences. I lost people that I care about. I have challenges with daily activities. I have my good days and my bad days. But no matter what difficulty arises, I know there is a way to get through it and benefit from the moment. If you have the desire, you can do anything. But you must know that you can't expect anything to happen overnight. If you work and work at it, you will eventually get to be where you want to be. With this book, I am one step closer to being where I want to be, making a difference for my people and taking care of my family.
